Are 4 wheelers dangerous to the baby during pregnancy?

by admin on July 9, 2010

I’m 18 weeks and I’m going camping this weekend and thats how we are planning to get around while we are there. It will be all hills and regular roads..no dirt roads or trails but a couple spots with gravel. Will that have any effect on the baby or be dangerous?

As long as you’re not ramping off hills, bouncing around, or making sharp turns. The reason why it could be bad is placental abruption. That’s when the placenta dettaches from the uterine wall and in turn the baby dies. All the bouncing around on the four wheeler can do that. Not to mention if you reck.

I suggest only ride it when absolutely needed. And TAKE IT SLOW! Anyone who has the right mind will understand if you tell them you’re pregnant and don’t wanna harm the baby.

Congrats and be safe.

Extremely dangerous riding a motorbike whether it be 2 or 4 wheels can cause miscarriage. Please dont risk it!

I agree that as long as you take it SLOW and stick to paved roads and fairly even gravel, you probably aren’t putting your baby at any more risk than taking a ride down a bumpy dirt road in a pick-up truck. That said, it is going to be a slight increase of risk for miscarriage, so if you don’t absolutely HAVE to I would recommend walking instead of taking the ATV.
